Prevent the spread of coronavirus at your workplace
Here are some reminders to help prevent COVID-19 from entering your environment …
- Sanitize frequently touched places in your workplace. Wear disposable gloves and gowns.
- Afterwards, remove the gloves and gowns carefully to avoid contaminating the person doing the cleaning and the surrounding area.
- All employees should wash hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds.
- If soap and water are not available and hands are not visibly dirty, an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol may be used.
- Other key times to wash hands include after blowing one’s nose, coughing, or sneezing; after using the restroom; before eating or preparing food; after contact with animals or pets; and before and after providing routine care for another person, such as a child.
- Be aware that some employees may be at higher risk for serious illness, such as older adults and those with chronic medical conditions. Try to minimize face-to-face contact between these employees or assign work tasks that allow them to maintain a distance of six feet from others or to telework if possible.
- Actively encourage sick employees to stay home and follow CDC recommendations on when to return.
- Employees who are well but who have a sick family member at home with COVID-19 should notify their supervisor and follow CDC recommended precautions.
